Mocktails Can be Fun!

Mocktails Can be Fun!

Perhaps the bride-to-be has a bun in the oven or maybe she just doesn’t want to deal with a massive hangover and embarrassing Facebook photos. Whatever her reason for wanting to have an alcohol-free bachelorette party, there are plenty of ways to make this a fun night without the booze. Here are some tips for having a fun and “dry” bachelorette bash.

Let Guests Know

Most bachelorette party guests expect the bash to have booze. So it’s best to let them know ahead of time so they know what to expect. Open communication will help nip any potentially awkward moments so everyone can focus on having fun.

Create Some Mocktails

You can still have fun with a virgin drink. In case the only booze-less drink you know is the Shirley Temple keep in mind there areĀ  many great mocktail recipes available online. Check out this top ten list from FabulousFoods.com and this extensive list from DrinkAlternatives.com.

Pick a Theme

Bachelorette parties without themes are likely to fall back on alcohol as the centerpiece for the evening. Pick a theme like tropical, spa, or western so that guests can get into the event without the help of booze.

Play Fun Non-Drinking Games

Even if you’re not drinking you can still have fun playing games. There are lots of free games at TheHouseofBachelorette.com including Crazy Bachelorette Bowling. In fact the bowling alley can be a great place to host your alcohol-free bachelorette party, especially when you download this free game and take it with you.

A Bachelorette Party At Sea

Wednesday, February 23rd, 2011

Looking for a Wet and Wild Bachelorette Party?

According to some entertainment news sources, Prince William has decided to have a bachelor party at sea. That way he can have fun and privacy without worrying about paparazzi. While most brides-to-be don’t have to worry about the paps crashing their bash, the idea of celebrating the single life at sea does sound fun! A bachelorette party can get crazy, so why not take a cue from the Prince himself and have a wet and wild bachelorette party?

If you want to have a bachelorette party at sea you’ll definitely want to hit up TheHouseofBachelorette.com first for some supplies. No need for the tight black dress and uncomfortable pumps– look the part with this tropical Hawaiian bra top. Grab some pink beach balls, just $1.99, to play with and pose with for great bachelorette party pictures. Give each girl their own flower hair clip, $.99, to wear during the party and as a momento for remembering your fun party at sea.

According to reports, Prince Harry will be at this bachelor party along with 20 of William’s closest friends. We’re still waiting to hear what his bride Kate Middleton will be up to for her bachelorette party. Any guesses?

Show Your Support for Rachelle!

Show Your Support for Rachelle!

This is one of those shocking stories that we can’t quite believe is true.Twenty-five-year-old bride-to-be Rachelle Friedman was celebrating her upcoming wedding with friends in Virginia Beach last May. The bachelorette party turned tragic when her best friend jokingly pushed her into the shallow end of the pool. Rachelle hit her head on the bottom and was rushed to the hospital.

She’s now paralyzed and had to postpone her June wedding in order to qualify for Medicaid. The insurance coverage helps pay for ongoing treatment and therapy, but Rachelle says she’s still planning to get married to the love of her life, Chris Chapman. Rachelle describes the bachelorette party incident as “a freak accident.”

The website Gawker created a website for Rachelle so people can donate to her medical bills or offer up some encouragement. Visit RachelleFriedman.com if you want to help. We’re praying for you Rachelle!

Why Halloween is a Fun Time for a Bachelorette Bash

Thursday, October 28th, 2010

Halloween and weddings may not seem like the perfect combination, but Halloween can be a great time for a bachelorette party! Here are five reasons why you should consider having a bachelorette party on Halloween weekend:

1. Drink Specials: Want to get your drink on? There are lots of promotions and specials going on at bars and restaurants on Halloween weekend. You can totally cash in by having your bachelorette party during this celebration.

2. Playing Dress Up: Getting your bachelorette party guests to dress in silly costumes may not happen during other times of the year. But during Halloween weekend there’s a great chance that your girls will be more than ready to have fun with costumes.

3. Clear Calendar: Most people already expect to devote Halloween weekend to fun events and parties. So they likely will be more willing to clear some space for your bachelorette party.

4. Festive Atmosphere: Halloween is just a fun time overall. So any where you go you’ll likely encounter a more festive atmosphere, and plenty of people ready to have a good time with you. Chances are there will be an abundance of bar-goers ready to buy and your girlfriends drinks.

5. Great Photos: It could be the only time of year where you could have bachelorette party pictures taken with Elvis, The Situation or Michael Jackson. Just think of all the fun party photos you’ll be able to capture by having your bachelorette party on Halloween weekend.

Five Steps for Planning a Last Minute Bachelorette Party

Tuesday, September 7th, 2010
Time Running Out to Plan Your Bachelorette Party?

Time Running Out to Plan Your Bachelorette Party?

Judging by the number of our customers that request overnight shipping, we know that planning a last minute bachelorette party happens all the time. So if you’re faced with only a few days for planning a big bash, just know that you are not alone! Just follow these five steps and you’ll be on your way to an unforgettable bachelorette night.

Step One: Talk to the Bride

Most bachelorette parties aren’t planned by the bride, but they are planned for her. So make sure she gets what she wants. Ask her what she has in mind, who she wants invited, and how she wants to celebrate her last night as a single girl.

Step Two: Send Out Invites

It won’t be much of a party if no one shows up. Use a site like Pingg.com or Evite.com. Both sites offer exclusive bachelorette party designs.

Step Three: Pick a Theme

You probably know the bride pretty well. So you know what theme would have her as giddy as a school girl. The House of Bachelorette makes it easy to shop by theme– whether your bride is a little bit naughty or more of a nice girl.

Step Four: Place Your Order

Buy your party decorations, games and favors from The House of Bachelorette. Orders received before 1pm are eligible for overnight shipping.

Step Five: Get Your Party On!

Now that you’ve got your girls and your party supplies, all that’s left to do is have fun and make memories!

Yay or Nay: Tweeting During a Bachelorette Party?

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

Just because modern brides love posting wedding planning details on Facebook, Twitter and Flickr doesn’t mean they want their bachelorette party broadcast to the world. According to WeddingChannel.com there are plenty of digital does and don’ts when it comes to the wedding. “From Facebook and Twitter to foursquare and Flickr, when it comes to wedding guests, brides have more to worry about than just whether a guest will wear white,” says Sharon Stimpfle, deputy site director of WeddingChannel.com in a news release. “In an over-sharing online world, guests are posting Facebook status updates while they’re at the wedding and even trying to RSVP on Twitter, leaving brides feeling frustrated and over-exposed.”

Brides May Tweet, But Should Bachelorettes?

Brides May Tweet, But Should Bachelorettes?

It’s probably not a good idea to send out twit pics of the bride dancing on a table at her bachelorette party or post party photos to your Facebook photo album. But if you’re a die-hard social media fan, make sure you get the bride’s permission before doing so. Forty percent of brides said posting photos online without clearance from the bride or even a heads-up was their biggest digital wedding gripe, according to a WeddingChannel.com poll.

So what do you think? Is it a bad idea to bring the bachelorette party to the world through social media? Tweet us and let us know what you think or post a comment on The House of Bachelorette’s Facebook page.
