A Magic Mike Bachelorette Party

Monday, July 2nd, 2012

magic-mikeThrongs of women poured into the movie theater this weekend to see Channing Tatum’s ripped chest in the movie Magic Mike, which apparently is loosely based on the time Channing spent working as an exotic dancer. According to Rotten Tomatoes, three out of four audience members liked the movie. And I’m guessing one out of four of those audience members were men, which to me signals that starting your bachelorette party at the movie theater for a screening of Magic Mike could be a memorable way to celebrate your “so long” to singledom.

And if you want to take the Magic Mike theme to the next level, here are some great games, decorations and supplies to help you amp up your bachelorette party:

Pin the Macho on the Man: This is the most popular game at TheHouseofBachelorette.com. You could also call it “pin the magic on the Mike” and tape a photo of Channing Tatum over this guy’s head. It’s just $7.99.

John the Inflatable Love Doll: Your guests will surely have fun coming up with some crazy photo ops with John the Inflatable Love Doll, $8.99. Make him your personal stripper mascot for the evening.

Surprise Party Gift Bag: This bag is perfect for Magic Mike party favors or prizes. The sexy, bare chested man on the cover definitely fits in with the Magic Mike party theme. Each gift bag is $3.49.

Exotic Dancer Napkins: These cute napkins feature the words “To support himself through college, Dave held a series of degrading jobs. Exotic dancer was by far the worst.” A pack of 16 is just $2.99.

Beefcake Drink Holder: Perhaps the artist used Channing Tatum’s abs as inspiration for this bottle cozy? They’ll remind guests of Magic Mike and keep the fun flowing all night long. Pick one up for $1.89.

So what do you think, are you ready to have a Magic Mike Bachelorette Party?

A High-Flying Trapeze Bachelorette Party

Thursday, April 26th, 2012

trapezeSome brides are giving new meaning to the “hangover.” A healthy and adrenaline-filled alternative to the traditional bachelorette party is having it at a trapeze class. Recently, newspapers interviewed 25-year-old bride-to-be Nicki Bonebrake who says the day after her bachelorette party she could barely get out of bed– and not because she drank too much. Her body was exhausted after learning the trapeze. “I couldn’t lift my arms. I put on deodorant and it hurt,” Bonebrake told reporters. “It was the good kind of sore.”

Bonebrake is like many impending brides, health conscious. She plays volleyball, coed flag football and attends yoga. That’s why when it came time to choose a bachelorette party activity, trapeze came out at the top of her list. It’s a great way to burn calories and build muscle tone before your big day.

Need help finding a trapeze school for your bachelorette party? Check these out:

Trapeze School, locations in New York, Washington DC, Boston, LA, and Chicago.

The Flying Trapeze School, Miami.

Forget Strippers: Hire Butlers for Your Bachelorette Party

Monday, March 5th, 2012

Butlers in the buff Looking for a way to make your bachelorette party unforgettable? Strippers have been around for decades, but a Florida company is bringing hot men to the bachelorette party scene in a brand new way. Butlers in the Buff bring hunky, toned men to your party, ready to serve drinks and nibbles all night long. We’re thinking this might be even better than the traditional Bachelorette Party Supplies! Unlike the British  butlers you see on Downton Abbey, these men are less clothed. They wear a white collar, bow-tie, a tiny apron, and of course, a smile.

The concept started in the UK about a decade ago and was recently brought to the US. Right now Butlers in the Buff are available in Florida where 75 men arButlers in the buff e ready to bring their six-pack to your bachelorette party. The company says you can request to have your butler pull on black boxer briefs or black dress pants if it’s more appropriate for your event.

Having a hot many wait on you for the evening isn’t necessarily cheap, but the company promises you’re getting service with a smile. The rate for a Butler in the Buff to the general public is $85 per butler, per hour plus travel. What do you think– would you like a scantily clad, sexy butler serving you at your bachelorette party?

Cute DIY Bachelorette Party Gift Idea

Monday, June 13th, 2011

DIY_bridesmaidsgiftI recently stumbled across this adorable DIY tutorial that could make a lovely bachelorette party gift! I found it on Hostess with the Mostess and was so inspired. Jewelry making is really fun or you could simply buy your own earrings and design the card to attach them to. Make sure to print a fun message that fits with the bachelorette party theme.

Instead of making such a girly sack to put your gift in you could spice it up with some animal print fabric or even throw in some additional party favors from The House of Bachelorette. Have you made the perfect party favor for your bachelorette party? We’d love to hear about it!

Spa days and dance parties are great ways to spend your bachelorette party. But what about brides who long for more adventure and thrill? There are many ways to have an adventurous bachelorette party. Need some crazy ideas? Here are a few:

http://www.whitewater.net/

Whitewater Rafting

When you celebrate the end of the single life with a whitewater rafting trip you’ll have all of the adventure with none of the regrets. (And no hangover in the morning either!) Check out River Runners, a Colorado whitewater rafting company offering a variety of packages perfect for bachelorettes. You can head out on the water for a few hours or an entire weekend. River Runners offers special rates for bachelorette parties. “We have seen an increase in bookings for bachelor parties the past few seasons and our Riverside Rafting Resort is an excellent place to host a party,” said Eileen Peterson, general manager at River Runners. “These are just two of the many reasons why we have decided to offer special packages that cater to bachelor and bachelorette parties. Colorado whitewater rafting is a unique alternative for those looking for an active way to celebrate the end of bachelorhood that is both memorable and offers no regrets.”

Swim With Dolphins

Most women love the idea of getting in the water with a dolphin. Grabbing that fin and holding on tight for a swim around a pool sounds like quite the thrill. Make this adventure part of your bachelorette party with the help of Dolphin World. They have dolphin swimming experiences available at a variety of Florida locations so you can choose the best one for your bachelorette party.

Drive a Race Car

With the Richard Petty Driving Experience you can feel what it’s like to cruise around a NASCAR track. You and your bachelorette party girls will have fun suiting up and getting behind the wheel (or sitting in the passenger seat) during your race car experience. This is definitely a bachelorette party to remember– and one the groom will likely be a bit jealous of!

Kate Middleton’s Guide for Having a Super Secret Bachelorette Party

Tuesday, March 29th, 2011

In exactly one month Kate Middleton and Prince William will become husband and wife in the royal wedding of the century. Kate is becoming a pro at keeping things secret surrounding the wedding. If you like the idea of keeping your bachelorette party hush hush, just take a cue from bride-to-be Kate Middleton’s sister Pippa.

According to UK’s Daily Mail the bride’s younger sister and maid of honor Pippa Middleton is in charge of planning the “hen party” which is the UK version of a bachelorette party. She’s planning one party in London and another “Dirty Dancing” themed party at the Middleton home in Bucklebury, Berkshire.

In order to keep the London party under wraps, Pippa has booked four different venues. That way no one will know where the party is until the actual night of the event. “None of the girls know where they will be going – and won’t until the actual day,” a source tells the paper.

How to Have an Alcohol-Free Bachelorette Party

Thursday, March 24th, 2011
Mocktails Can be Fun!

Mocktails Can be Fun!

Perhaps the bride-to-be has a bun in the oven or maybe she just doesn’t want to deal with a massive hangover and embarrassing Facebook photos. Whatever her reason for wanting to have an alcohol-free bachelorette party, there are plenty of ways to make this a fun night without the booze. Here are some tips for having a fun and “dry” bachelorette bash.

Let Guests Know

Most bachelorette party guests expect the bash to have booze. So it’s best to let them know ahead of time so they know what to expect. Open communication will help nip any potentially awkward moments so everyone can focus on having fun.

Create Some Mocktails

You can still have fun with a virgin drink. In case the only booze-less drink you know is the Shirley Temple keep in mind there are  many great mocktail recipes available online. Check out this top ten list from FabulousFoods.com and this extensive list from DrinkAlternatives.com.

Pick a Theme

Bachelorette parties without themes are likely to fall back on alcohol as the centerpiece for the evening. Pick a theme like tropical, spa, or western and add lots of Bachelorette Party Supplies and favors so that guests can get into the event without the help of booze.

Play Fun Non-Drinking Games

Even if you’re not drinking you can still have fun playing games. There are lots of free games at TheHouseofBachelorette.com including Crazy Bachelorette Bowling. In fact the bowling alley can be a great place to host your alcohol-free bachelorette party, especially when you download this free game and take it with you.

Reese Witherspoon’s Bachelorette Party

Friday, March 18th, 2011

Reese Witherspoon and her fiance Jim Toth are supposedly getting married in just a few days– March 26th to be exact. It’s a southern-themed wedding according to Hollywood insiders. There will be about 100 guests showing up to Reese’s estate in Ojai Valley, California. We thought it would be fun to plan Reese’s bachelorette party. So here are some of our suggestions for this beautiful, sweet starlet.

We can’t help but think of Reese as a delicate, girly girl. So that’s why we think this Engaged Headband/Veil from The House of Bachelorette’s classy bride collection would be ideal for her bachelorette bash. It’s currently on sale for $9.99.

And because whoever said orange was the new pink is seriously disturbed, we’ve got the passion pink marabou boa. It’s just $1.99 and perfect for a fun night in LA with the girls.

Reese really can’t go wrong with feathers, so we think she should add a few more to her bachelorette ensemble with the feather bracelet, just $1.99.

TOTE0SCROLLBRD-2

This bride tote seems to have a little touch of southern charm. It’s springy, sweet and practical, just like Reese herself. Pick one up for the bride-to-be in your life for just $21.99.

We wish Reese the best and hope her bachelorette party is a night to remember!

Looking for a Wet and Wild Bachelorette Party?

According to some entertainment news sources, Prince William has decided to have a bachelor party at sea. That way he can have fun and privacy without worrying about paparazzi. While most brides-to-be don’t have to worry about the paps crashing their bash, the idea of celebrating the single life at sea does sound fun! A bachelorette party can get crazy, so why not take a cue from the Prince himself and have a wet and wild bachelorette party?

If you want to have a bachelorette party at sea you’ll definitely want to hit up TheHouseofBachelorette.com first for some supplies. No need for the tight black dress and uncomfortable pumps– look the part with your favorite swim suit. Grab some pink beach balls, just $1.99, to play with and pose with for great bachelorette party pictures. Give each girl their own flower hair clip, $.99, to wear during the party and as a momento for remembering your fun party at sea.
