Kim Kardashian walked down the aisle earlier this month and said “I do” to Kris Humphries. People magazine paid big bucks for the exclusive wedding photos, but it turned out they weren’t that interested in the happy couple– they were mainly focused on Kim K. The magazine left the groom off the cover and some sources say Kim is upset about having the spotlight to herself.
Reports say that Kim is worried the snub will offend her in-laws. And every bride knows that can be a big concern with a new marriage. People paid $1.5 million for the pictures, according to sources, so maybe they deserve to do whatever they want with the photos. But maybe stories saying that Kim was upset were blown out of proportion. The NYPost reported that Kim’s rep explained: “Kim of course wanted Kris to be on the cover, but it was People’s decision…everyone, including Kris understood…No one is upset.”
Millions are expected to tune in to watch the event of the century– the Royal Wedding of Kate Middleton and Prince William. There are viewing parties all over the world and YouTube will be streaming the wedding live as well. If you’re planning a viewing party to celebrate the nuptials of Wills and Kate you’ll definitely want to do it up right. And The House of Bachelorette is here to help!
Put On Your Crown
Part of the allure of the Royal Wedding is the fact that Kate Middleton was once a commoner. Her family became millionaires through their party supply website (sound familiar?). But overnight Kate will go from an ordinary girl to a member of royalty. And we can all feel like princesses when we watch her walk down the aisle while wearing a princess bride tiara, just $3.99.
Serve Up Something Special
Unless you’re watching the Royal Wedding on Tivo, you’re probably up pretty early in the morning. Make sure you serve up some special early morning treats (mimosas perhaps?) and give guests these lovely tiara napkins, perfect for princesses in the making.
Set the Scene
Pretend you’re not thousands of miles away from Buckingham Palace. Set the scene as if you were a part of the Royal Wedding party. That includes fun decorations, flowers and even some Love Birds Bridal balloons. That way you’ll always have a fun story to tell when the conversation turns to the 2011 Royal Wedding of Kate and William.

There’s a hilarious new movie coming out on May 13, 2011 called Bridesmaids. The movie stars Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne and others. Maya is the bride and the movie follows her and her five bridesmaids through some hilarious scenarios that I’m sure many of us can relate to.
Bridesmaids Hits Theaters May 13
Bridesmaids centers on the character Annie (played by Wiig), who is a down-on-her-luck baker who is losing her store because of the recession. When her best friend Lillian ( played by Rudolph) breaks the news that she’s engaged and wants Annie to be her maid of honor, she puts her own trials aside to help out. In case you haven’t caught the trailer yet, check this out:
Reese Witherspoon and her fiance Jim Toth are supposedly getting married in just a few days– March 26th to be exact. It’s a southern-themed wedding according to Hollywood insiders. There will be about 100 guests showing up to Reese’s estate in Ojai Valley, California. We thought it would be fun to plan Reese’s bachelorette party. So here are some of our suggestions for this beautiful, sweet starlet.
We can’t help but think of Reese as a delicate, girly girl. So that’s why we think this Engaged Headband/Veil from The House of Bachelorette’s classy bride collection would be ideal for her bachelorette bash. It’s currently on sale for $9.99.
And because whoever said orange was the new pink is seriously disturbed, we’ve got the classic pink marabou boa. It’s just $1.99 and perfect for a fun night in LA with the girls.
Reese really can’t go wrong with feathers, so we think she should add a few more to her bachelorette ensemble with the feather bracelet, just $1.99.
This bride tote seems to have a little touch of southern charm. It’s springy, sweet and practical, just like Reese herself. Pick one up for the bride-to-be in your life for just $24.99.
We wish Reese the best and hope her bachelorette party is a night to remember!
Costco just announced that in addition to discount toilet paper, olive oil and hamburger meat you’ll also be able to pick out a wedding dress at some of their bulk discount stores! Designer Kirstie Kelly is now selling her gowns at the wholesale warehouses. Don’t expect something super cheap though– gowns range from $699 to $1399 (plus the cost of a Costco membership.) Sizes offered range from 2 to 24. Right now there’s a traveling trunk show. They’ll also be selling fingertip and cathedral length veils to complement the gowns. Check out Costco.com to find out if the dresses are coming to your area.
What do you think– would you buy a wedding dress at Costco?
We know you like a good deal– that’s one of the reasons why you shop at The House of Bachelorette isn’t it? So we know you’ll love this news! The stylish brains behind Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie are heading down the aisle and launching a bridal line. Fittingly, this line launches on Valentine’s Day 2011.
BHLDN promises to offer heirloom quality wedding gowns, bridesmaid dresses and other party wear. It will also carry jewelry, headpieces, shoes and lingerie. Everything can be purchased online at first. “We know our customer, and we know she’s looking for a brand that reflects her unique perspective. She may have interests common to her friends, but she’s looking to create a moment that’s all her own it’s not so much about our point of view as it is about capturing hers,” explains managing director, Kristin Norris in a news release.
Bachelorette Ali Fedotowsky got engaged on ABC’s The Bachelorette to Roberto. And while the happy couple has been super busy with events and press ever since they say a 2011 wedding is not unlikely according to Hollyscoop. At a recent event the website asked Roberto if a wedding was in the near future and his fiancee Ali chimed in right away saying, “I would be surprised if we didn’t get married in 2011.”
Could that mean that Ali will be celebrating her upcoming nuptials with a bachelorette party in the new year? If she does, we’ll be happy to help her plan it. But we’re betting Vienna won’t be on the guest list!
This is one of those shocking stories that we can’t quite believe is true.Twenty-five-year-old bride-to-be Rachelle Friedman was celebrating her upcoming wedding with friends in Virginia Beach last May. The bachelorette party turned tragic when her best friend jokingly pushed her into the shallow end of the pool. Rachelle hit her head on the bottom and was rushed to the hospital.
She’s now paralyzed and had to postpone her June wedding in order to qualify for Medicaid. The insurance coverage helps pay for ongoing treatment and therapy, but Rachelle says she’s still planning to get married to the love of her life, Chris Chapman. Rachelle describes the bachelorette party incident as “a freak accident.”
The website Gawker created a website for Rachelle so people can donate to her medical bills or offer up some encouragement. Visit RachelleFriedman.com if you want to help. We’re praying for you Rachelle!
