Reasons to Have a Bridesman

Tuesday, May 7th, 2013

Bridesman sash

Your best friend is a guy, and you want him to be a part of your wedding party. A lot of brides in this situation would have him be a groomsman and do everything with the groom and his friends. But there’s nothing wrong with keeping him on your side of the aisle! Here are some reasons why it’s just fine (and even preferred) to have a bridesman in your wedding party.

  • No complaints about the bridesmaid dress. Your guy will most likely wear a suit or tux similar to the ones the groomsmen wear. You can make him a different boutonniere or have him wear a different vest or bowtie to show that he’s on the bride’s side.
  • No cattiness. Guys are known for telling it to you straight. If they have a concern, you need an answer, or they’re not getting along with someone, you can depend on them to handle it in a more straightforward and honest way.
  • You’ll get a guy’s point of view. Getting a surprise gift for the groom and want a guy’s opinion? Talk to your bridesman!
  • It’s more personal. If your best friend is a guy, then you should have him up there with you. Who cares what wedding traditions say? It will mean much  more to you as you walk down the aisle to see your true friends up there with you, not your random co-worker you picked to fill out the lineup.
  • He’ll serve as your “Male Ambassador.” Having a guy at your bridal shower or bachelorette party means it may not get as cheesy or girly, which is a plus for many brides. Plus, he’ll make an excellent wing-man for your single friends when you’re out on the town.

Are you thinking of having a bridesman or a man of honor in your wedding? Talk to him and make sure he’s ok with being on “your side.” And make sure to let the ladies know a guy will be attending the bachelorette festivities in case they had any female-only activities planned. Finally, grab him a bridesman sash or man of honor sash so he can join in on all of the fun and show off his status!

Let us know in the comments if you had a bridesman in your wedding!

Bachelorette Gifts for Priscilla Chan (aka Mrs. Zuckerberg)

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2012

According to reports Mark Zuckerberg’s recent wedding to long-time girlfriend Priscilla Chan was so secret that guests didn’t even know they’d been invited. Fewer than 100 people showed up at the Zuckerberg/Chan affair at the couple’s Palo Alto home under the impression they were celebrating Chan’s graduation– not her wedding. Chan even is reported to have purchased her wedding dress under an alias to avoid suspicion.

Since the event came as a surprise to just about everyone, most people probably didn’t have time to buy a wedding gift for the Zuckerbergs or a bachelorette party gift for Priscilla Chan. So just in case you want to get her something– we think these gifts would be perfect:

  • Relationship Status Keychain: Mark Zuckerberg is now a billionaire and whether or not the couple signed a pre-nup doesn’t really matter. Priscilla is a part of the Facebook empire as well. Help her update her relationship status on or off Facebook with the cute Relationship Status Keychain, $16.99.keychain-relationship-status
  • Bride Rhinestone Hoodie: Few things are important enough to get Mark Zuckerberg out of his signature hoodie. Thankfully he did wear a suit for his wedding to Priscilla Chan, but we’re guessing now it’s back to the hoodie. Priscilla can embrace her husband’s laid-back style while also looking like a cute bride with the Bride Rhinestone Hoodie. It’s fully customizable and just $42.99. Choose from black or white– or if you’re a billionaire bride you may want to get both!hoody-future-mrs-white
  • Relationship Status Rhinestone Sash: Another way for Mrs. Zuckerberg to change her status is by wearing a cute Relationship Status Rhinestone Sash. While this one says engaged, it can be customized to say anything you want– including married! The sash sells for $18.99 and comes in six fun colors.sash-rhinestone-relationship-status-engaged

We wish the happy couple the best and hope that their relationship status forever says “married” on Facebook!

We just heard from a casting director who is looking for the perfect bridal party to feature in a one-hour major network reality show. Of course the casting director came to The House of Bachelorette for help because he knows that hot, crazy bachelorettes shop here! “We are all fans of the movie and we are trying to do a reality TV version of it,” says Rich, the casting director. “So we want to document the events leading up to the wedding with the bridal party, like shopping for dresses, planning bridal shower or bachelorette party. People Magazine Kim Kardashian Controversy

Tuesday, August 30th, 2011

Kim K People CoverKim Kardashian walked down the aisle earlier this month and said “I do” to Kris Humphries. People magazine paid big bucks for the exclusive wedding photos, but it turned out they weren’t that interested in the happy couple– they were mainly focused on Kim K. The magazine left the groom off the cover and some sources say Kim is upset about having the spotlight to herself.

Reports say that Kim is worried the snub will offend her in-laws. And every bride knows that can be a big concern with a new marriage. People paid $1.5 million for the pictures, according to sources, so maybe they deserve to do whatever they want with the photos. But maybe stories saying that Kim was upset were blown out of proportion. The NYPost reported that Kim’s rep explained: “Kim of course wanted Kris to be on the cover, but it was People’s decision…everyone, including Kris understood…No one is upset.”

You Can Feel Like a Princess Too

You Can Feel Like a Princess Too

Millions are expected to tune in to watch the event of the century– the Royal Wedding of Kate Middleton and Prince William. There are viewing parties all over the world and YouTube will be streaming the wedding live as well. If you’re planning a viewing party to celebrate the nuptials of Wills and Kate you’ll definitely want to do it up right. And The House of Bachelorette is here to help!

Put On Your Crown

Part of the allure of the Royal Wedding is the fact that Kate Middleton was once a commoner. Her family became millionaires through their party supply website (sound familiar?). But overnight Kate will go from an ordinary girl to a member of royalty. And we can all feel like princesses when we watch her walk down the aisle while wearing a princess bride tiara, just $3.99.

Serve Up Something Special

Unless you’re watching the Royal Wedding on Tivo, you’re probably up pretty early in the morning. Make sure you serve up some special early morning treats (mimosas perhaps?) and give guests these lovely tiara napkins, perfect for princesses in the making.

Set the Scene

Pretend you’re not thousands of miles away from Buckingham Palace. Set the scene as if you were a part of the Royal Wedding party. That includes fun decorations, flowers and even some Love Birds Bridal balloons. That way you’ll always have a fun story to tell when the conversation turns to the 2011 Royal Wedding of Kate and William.

Bridesmaids Movie Trailer: Can You Relate?

Tuesday, April 5th, 2011

There’s a hilarious new movie coming out on May 13, 2011 called Bridesmaids.  The movie stars Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne and others. Maya is the bride and the movie follows her and her five bridesmaids through some hilarious scenarios that I’m sure many of us can relate to.

Bridesmaids Hits Theaters May 13

Bridesmaids centers on the character Annie (played by Wiig), who is a down-on-her-luck baker who is losing her store because of the recession. When her best friend Lillian ( played by Rudolph) breaks the news that she’s engaged and wants Annie to be her maid of honor, she puts her own trials aside to help out. In case you haven’t caught the trailer yet, check this out:

Reese Witherspoon’s Bachelorette Party

Friday, March 18th, 2011

Reese Witherspoon and her fiance Jim Toth are supposedly getting married in just a few days– March 26th to be exact. It’s a southern-themed wedding according to Hollywood insiders. There will be about 100 guests showing up to Reese’s estate in Ojai Valley, California. We thought it would be fun to plan Reese’s bachelorette party. So here are some of our suggestions for this beautiful, sweet starlet.

We can’t help but think of Reese as a delicate, girly girl. So that’s why we think this Engaged Headband/Veil from The House of Bachelorette’s classy bride collection would be ideal for her bachelorette bash. It’s currently on sale for $9.99.

And because whoever said orange was the new pink is seriously disturbed, we’ve got the classic pink marabou boa. It’s just $1.99 and perfect for a fun night in LA with the girls.

Reese really can’t go wrong with feathers, so we think she should add a few more to her bachelorette ensemble with the feather bracelet, just $1.99.

This bride tote seems to have a little touch of southern charm. It’s springy, sweet and practical, just like Reese herself. Pick one up for the bride-to-be in your life for just $24.99.

We wish Reese the best and hope her bachelorette party is a night to remember!
