Bachelorette Party Logistics – Headaches Out, Fun In!

Wednesday, July 18th, 2012

THOB Bach party 2How many times have you started out planning a bachelorette party with excitement, anticipation, and brilliant ideas, and then somewhere along the process found yourself pulling your hair out in frustration?  You know the drill… Although the theme, décor and treats are fun to shop for, as the maid of honor/bachelorette party planner you are also tasked with managing everyone’s opinions, tracking headcounts for all the activities, and scrambling for the best reservations.  The planning discussions often end up in convoluted email chains and more often than not, one of the invitees misses a crucial message or somehow falls off the email string (and either goes off on a tangent, or worse, feels left out).  Plus, there’s the sticky business of figuring out who-owes-whom-what post-party, which can leave a bad taste after even the most fabulous of events.

We’ve all had to deal with this scenario, as have our friends at www.LastBash.com –  who have actually made it their goal to do something about it!

LastBash is a new, free online application for managing the logistics of bachelorette parties (and other group gatherings).  It’s user friendly and designed to simplify the process of — and put the fun back into — coordinating the ultimate bash.  In addition to event details and RSVP functionality, LastBash allows bachelorette party groups to discuss and collaborate on ideas via a private dashboard; manage multiple activities and RSVPs for each; obtain tips and destination recommendations; and track and split expenses fairly and efficiently.

As bachelorette party planners and participants, we love how www.LastBash.com eliminates the planning headaches so we can bring all our energy to the actual party and focus on what matters most – giving the bride-to-be (and her besties,) the ultimate bash!

A Magic Mike Bachelorette Party

Monday, July 2nd, 2012

magic-mikeThrongs of women poured into the movie theater this weekend to see Channing Tatum’s ripped chest in the movie Magic Mike, which apparently is loosely based on the time Channing spent working as an exotic dancer. According to Rotten Tomatoes, three out of four audience members liked the movie. And I’m guessing one out of four of those audience members were men, which to me signals that starting your bachelorette party at the movie theater for a screening of Magic Mike could be a memorable way to celebrate your “so long” to singledom.

And if you want to take the Magic Mike theme to the next level, here are some great games, decorations and supplies to help you amp up your bachelorette party:

Pin the Macho on the Man: This is the most popular game at TheHouseofBachelorette.com. You could also call it “pin the magic on the Mike” and tape a photo of Channing Tatum over this guy’s head. It’s just $7.99.

John the Inflatable Love Doll: Your guests will surely have fun coming up with some crazy photo ops with John the Inflatable Love Doll, $8.99. Make him your personal stripper mascot for the evening.

Surprise Party Gift Bag: This bag is perfect for Magic Mike party favors or prizes. The sexy, bare chested man on the cover definitely fits in with the Magic Mike party theme. Each gift bag is $3.49.

Exotic Dancer Napkins: These cute napkins feature the words “To support himself through college, Dave held a series of degrading jobs. Exotic dancer was by far the worst.” A pack of 16 is just $2.99.

Beefcake Drink Holder: Perhaps the artist used Channing Tatum’s abs as inspiration for this bottle cozy? They’ll remind guests of Magic Mike and keep the fun flowing all night long. Pick one up for $1.89.

So what do you think, are you ready to have a Magic Mike Bachelorette Party?

A High-Flying Trapeze Bachelorette Party

Thursday, April 26th, 2012

trapezeSome brides are giving new meaning to the “hangover.” A healthy and adrenaline-filled alternative to the traditional bachelorette party is having it at a trapeze class. Recently, newspapers interviewed 25-year-old bride-to-be Nicki Bonebrake who says the day after her bachelorette party she could barely get out of bed– and not because she drank too much. Her body was exhausted after learning the trapeze. “I couldn’t lift my arms. I put on deodorant and it hurt,” Bonebrake told reporters. “It was the good kind of sore.”

Bonebrake is like many impending brides, health conscious. She plays volleyball, coed flag football and attends yoga. That’s why when it came time to choose a bachelorette party activity, trapeze came out at the top of her list. It’s a great way to burn calories and build muscle tone before your big day.

Need help finding a trapeze school for your bachelorette party? Check these out:

Trapeze School, locations in New York, Washington DC, Boston, LA, and Chicago.

The Flying Trapeze School, Miami.

Trapeze Arts, Oakland, California.

Trapeze High, Escondido and Del Mar, California.

Emerald City Trapeze Arts, Seattle, Washington

Forget Strippers: Hire Butlers for Your Bachelorette Party

Monday, March 5th, 2012

Butlers in the buff Looking for a way to make your bachelorette party unforgettable? Strippers have been around for decades, but a Florida company is bringing hot men to the bachelorette party scene in a brand new way. Butlers in the Buff bring hunky, toned men to your party, ready to serve drinks and nibbles all night long. We’re thinking this might be even better than the traditional Bachelorette Party Supplies! Unlike the British  butlers you see on Downton Abbey, these men are less clothed. They wear a white collar, bow-tie, a tiny apron, and of course, a smile.

The concept started in the UK about a decade ago and was recently brought to the US. Right now Butlers in the Buff are available in Florida where 75 men arButlers in the buff e ready to bring their six-pack to your bachelorette party. The company says you can request to have your butler pull on black boxer briefs or black dress pants if it’s more appropriate for your event.

Having a hot many wait on you for the evening isn’t necessarily cheap, but the company promises you’re getting service with a smile. The rate for a Butler in the Buff to the general public is $85 per butler, per hour plus travel. What do you think– would you like a scantily clad, sexy butler serving you at your bachelorette party?

Bachelor Pad Winner Holly Durst Enjoying The “Bride To Be” Title

Friday, September 23rd, 2011
THOB Blake and Holly

Blake Julian and His Bride-to-be Holly Durst Modeling a Sash From The House of Bachelorette

It’s been a pretty great couple of months for reality TV star Holly Durst. Not only did she meet her hunky new finance Blake Julian and get engaged in front of millions of people, but she also won $125,000 on the Bachelor Pad finale. The House of Bachelorette caught up with Holly last week at a benefit for Water of Life, a non-profit digging wells in Third World countries.

Of course since we knew we were going to be meeting up with one of the hottest couples in reality TV right now, we wanted to give Holly a little engagement gift. We packed one of our popular bride totes full of fun stuff including a feather boa, the Perfect Bride To Be Tiara and a white Bride Tank.  She loved her Super Bling Sash so much she even modeled it for us! These are a brand new item for The House of Bachelorette and we were excited Holly was one of the first to wear this fun accessory!

Holly and her fiance Blake Julian are now calling Greenville, South Carolina home. Blake is opening up a new dental practice this week and Holly is putting the finishing touches on her children’s book Chocolate Socks. They haven’t announced a wedding date yet but we wish them the best! And we bet Holly’s bachelorette party will be a night to remember!

There are viewing parties all over the world and YouTube will be streaming the wedding live as well. If you’re planning a viewing party to celebrate the nuptials of Wills and Kate you’ll definitely want to do it up right. And The House of Bachelorette is here to help!

You can feel like a princess, too.

Put On Your Crown

Part of the allure of the Royal Wedding is the fact that Kate Middleton was once a commoner. Her family became millionaires through their party supply website (sound familiar?). But overnight Kate will go from an ordinary girl to a member of royalty. And we can all feel like princesses when we watch her walk down the aisle while wearing a princess bride tiara, just $4.29.

Serve Up Something Special

Unless you’re watching the Royal Wedding on Tivo, you’re probably up pretty early in the morning. Make sure you serve up some special early morning treats (mimosas perhaps?) and give guests these lovely tiara napkins, perfect for princesses in the making.

Set the Scene

Pretend you’re not thousands of miles away from Buckingham Palace. Set the scene as if you were a part of the Royal Wedding party. That includes fun decorations, flowers and even some beautiful pearly pink balloons. That way you’ll always have a fun story to tell when the conversation turns to the 2011 Royal Wedding of Kate and William.

A Bachelorette Party At Sea

Wednesday, February 23rd, 2011

Looking for a Wet and Wild Bachelorette Party?

According to some entertainment news sources, Prince William has decided to have a bachelor party at sea. That way he can have fun and privacy without worrying about paparazzi. While most brides-to-be don’t have to worry about the paps crashing their bash, the idea of celebrating the single life at sea does sound fun! A bachelorette party can get crazy, so why not take a cue from the Prince himself and have a wet and wild bachelorette party?

If you want to have a bachelorette party at sea you’ll definitely want to hit up TheHouseofBachelorette.com first for some supplies. No need for the tight black dress and uncomfortable pumps– look the part with your favorite swim suit. Grab some pink beach balls, just $1.99, to play with and pose with for great bachelorette party pictures. Give each girl their own flower hair clip, $.99, to wear during the party and as a momento for remembering your fun party at sea.

According to reports, Prince Harry will be at this bachelor party along with 20 of William’s closest friends. We’re still waiting to hear what his bride Kate Middleton will be up to for her bachelorette party. Any guesses?
