No Bachelorette Party for Vienna

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010
Jake and Vienna

Jake and Vienna

Looks like Vienna Giraldi can recycle her bridal magazines. She and bachelor Jake Pavelka have split. They got engaged as millions watched the 14th season of The Bachelor on ABC. But Pavelka’s spokeswoman says the couple is done. According to Yahoo! News Janice Lee said “Jake and Vienna have split. They appreciate the respect for their privacy at this time.”

Lots of people were shocked when 32-year-old Jake the pilot chose 23-year-old marketing rep Vienna over runner-up Tenley who everyone but Jake knew was the right choice. Only four of the 13 couples that hooked up on The Bachelor are still together.

So are you surprised?

Thursday, June 10th, 2010

A big trend in bachelorette parties is to have all of the guests where little black dresses, while the bride wears (of course) a white party dress! If you’re invited to a bachelorette party like this here are five hot options for the perfect little black dress.

1. BCBG- One-Shoulder Taffeta Dress, $398

You will be red carpet worthy in this hot little number from BCBG. Just be sure the bride doesn’t think you’re outshining her on her last night as a single girl.

2. Banana Republic: Silk Mini-Pleat Dress, $110

You won’t find a dress with cuter details than this LBD from Banana Republic. The price is affordable and the dress is hot enough for a bachelorette party, but innocent enough for the wedding.

3. Zappos: Volcom For a Cause Dress, on sale for $51.20

A portion of the proceeds of this Volcom dress go to Boarding for Breast Cancer so you can feel good and look good wearing it.

4. Nordstrom- As U Wish Lace Tube Dress, $64

This adorable dress from Nordstrom features a sweetheart bodice and lots of lace. But even though it looks innocent, we think it could probably get some attention on the dance floor.

5. laRock- Sheer Impact Dress, on sale for $265

This slim fit mini dress features a cool, sheer racerback with a zipper closure. It even comes with a necklace attached so you don’t have to worry about finding accessories.

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

As more and more women prolong that walk down the aisle, bachelorette party dreams are changing. As brides get older their idea for the perfect way to send off singledom seems to change. They would rather pay a masseuse to rub them down rather than a stripper. And some would like to trade in the penis hats for a princess tiara. Here are some bachelorette party ideas for older brides.MASK0SLPCOCKTLS-2

Grown-Up Slumber Party: Invite the girls over for a grown-up slumber party. Make sure there’s plenty of wine and treats to last the night. Pop in a favorite chick flick and giggle the night away like old times. The Wake Me for Cocktails Sleep Mask is a must.

Tea Time: For sophisticated brides, a bachelorette tea time can be lots of fun. Hold it at a fancy hotel like the Ritz Carlton or The Four Seasons. Or set it up in your backyard garden. Require dresses and party hats for a regal feel.

Yay or Nay: Tweeting During a Bachelorette Party?

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

Just because modern brides love posting wedding planning details on Facebook, Twitter and Flickr doesn’t mean they want their bachelorette party broadcast to the world. According to WeddingChannel.com there are plenty of digital does and don’ts when it comes to the wedding. “From Facebook and Twitter to foursquare and Flickr, when it comes to wedding guests, brides have more to worry about than just whether a guest will wear white,” says Sharon Stimpfle, deputy site director of WeddingChannel.com in a news release. “In an over-sharing online world, guests are posting Facebook status updates while they’re at the wedding and even trying to RSVP on Twitter, leaving brides feeling frustrated and over-exposed.”

Brides May Tweet, But Should Bachelorettes?

Brides May Tweet, But Should Bachelorettes?

It’s probably not a good idea to send out twit pics of the bride dancing on a table at her bachelorette party or post party photos to your Facebook photo album. But if you’re a die-hard social media fan, make sure you get the bride’s permission before doing so. Forty percent of brides said posting photos online without clearance from the bride or even a heads-up was their biggest digital wedding gripe, according to a WeddingChannel.com poll.

So what do you think? Is it a bad idea to bring the bachelorette party to the world through social media? Tweet us and let us know what you think or post a comment on The House of Bachelorette’s Facebook page.
